Multipro Enterprise Limited, the makers of Hypo Bleach, has issued a strong warning to Nigerians following a viral online trend linked to content creators King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan.

The company said Hypo Bleach is strictly a cleaning product and should never be consumed under any circumstances.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the company’s marketing manager, Adebayo Adeyemo, made it clear that the product is designed for household use only.

“Hypo Bleach, Nigeria’s number one bleach brand, is formulated to remove stains, whiten your white fabric, deodorize and kill 99.9% of germs. It is not a drink.

“It is not something to consume for the sake of trends,” the statement read.

The warning follows a heated online clash between King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan, which reportedly sparked a disturbing trend. Some online creators began using Hypo sachets in skits and videos to simulate suicide attempts.

The company said it is worried about videos and AI-generated images circulating online that show Hypo as a beverage. It described the content as false and dangerous.

“We want to be unambiguous: those images are fabricated, that framing is false, and anyone encouraging others to consume Hypo, even as a joke, even for views, is putting lives at risk,” the company stated.

The situation escalated after VeryDarkMan appeared in a video taking a substance from a Hypo sachet. Many viewers saw the clip as a reaction to the growing trend. Soon after, more creators began copying the act in their own videos.

The trend has triggered widespread backlash. Parents, activists, and concerned citizens have described the content as disturbing and harmful, especially to young people who may feel pressure to join viral challenges.

Multipro Enterprise Limited also appealed directly to influencers and bloggers, reminding them of the impact of their actions online.

“To every influencer, blogger, and content creator: Your reach is real. So is your responsibility. A trend that ends in ill-health is not a trend worth starting.”

The company further advised young Nigerians to focus on their safety and avoid dangerous online dares.

“You do not have to prove anything to anyone. Not online. Not offline. Not ever. If someone is pressuring you to try this, that is not a dare. That is harm.”

Some Nigerians have called on authorities to step in and address the spread of such content, warning about its possible effect on young social media users.

Hypo Bleach has made its position clear. The product is for cleaning and not for consumption.

As the online debate continues, the company is urging content creators to act responsibly and young people to avoid risky trends. Authorities and concerned citizens are now watching closely to see what steps will be taken next.
