Pete Edochie Says He Spends N40,000 Daily on Electricity, Raises Concerns Over Nigeria’s Economy

Veteran Nollywood actor **Pete Edochie** has opened up about the high cost of basic services in Nigeria, revealing that he spends about N40,000 every day just to power his home.

The respected actor spoke about the issue while discussing the country’s economic challenges on a recent episode of the AIT programme *JIGSAW*. During the conversation, the 78-year-old shared his frustration about the rising cost of electricity and fuel.

According to him, maintaining power supply in his home has become a heavy financial burden.

“I spend N40,000 in my home every day for light. It disturbs me a lot. N10,000 for electricity and additional N30,000 on diesel and fuel.”

Edochie said the situation reflects the wider struggles faced by many Nigerians who depend on alternative power sources due to unstable electricity supply.

The Nollywood veteran also questioned why living conditions appear to be getting more difficult for ordinary citizens.

“Nobody seems to be bothered about what is happening to the common man. Why must it keep getting worse on each new day? Can we not improve? There was a time when somebody cut off the South-East in terms of railway transportation. Why must there be consistency in going backwards?”

Beyond the cost of electricity, Edochie raised concerns about infrastructure development, especially in the South-East region. He suggested that the area has been overlooked in key projects, including railway transportation.

His comments come at a time when many Nigerians continue to voice concerns about rising living costs and limited access to stable infrastructure.

Pete Edochie’s remarks highlight the growing frustration among citizens over the high cost of basic services and the state of infrastructure in the country. As economic pressures continue, many Nigerians are calling for solutions that will improve power supply and reduce the burden on households.
